This crewneck shirt features images of captured Igbo people from modern-day Nigeria. In 1803, after surviving the Middle Passage, they revolted aboard a ship transporting them to St. Simons Island, Georgia. After forcing the crew into the water, they marched into Dunbar Creek, choosing mass suicide over slavery in a powerful act of resistance. On January 1, 1804, Dessalines proclaimed Haiti an independent sovereign state.
